A quick guide on what to look for when hiring a scaffolding company
Scaffolding can be a dangerous, albeit it temporary, addition to your grounds so finding a company that is reliable, trustworthy and properly trained is crucial. We’ve put together a short guide on what to look for when you are thinking about hiring a scaffolding company so you can be as certain as possible that they are going to do the job well.
Are they based locally?
Some companies have lots of landing pages on their web site offering services across the country but in reality are based miles away from you. They may be sub-contracting out the work to local companies so it’s always worth checking their web site for their phone number and postal address, just to make sure they are based close to you. You can also check their ‘areas covered‘ page – if they list towns up and down the country, they are probably not locally based.
Do they have any customer reviews?
Well respected companies will post reviews on their web site and on online business listings, such as Google Business where customers can easily leave honest reviews. Check the companies web site and their online listings to see what other customers have to say about them.
Are they easy to contact if there is a problem?
This is a simple check – just try and call them. If they respond quickly then you are in with a good chance that if there is a problem during your scaffolding installation, you will be able to contact someone. Any one using a voicemail or call back service, or who simply do not pick up the phone could be more trouble than they are worth.
Do they offer the sort of scaffolding that you need?
Depending on your project, not all scaffolding companies can help. Different equipment and structures are required depending on the size of your house, warehouse or building. Most companies can offer everything that you need but will usually require a quick visit to the site to check the basics such as access to the site and the suitability of the foundations that the scaffolding will rest on.
Overall impression
Our advice is to talk to the company and see how they are on the phone. If you feel that they are suitable, friendly, professional and helpful then with that and all of the checks above, you should be heading down the right path.
